Disabled state

A UI element’s appearance when it is inactive or non-interactive, often grayed out, indicating that the user cannot interact with it under certain conditions.

What is Disabled State?

A Disabled State refers to the visual appearance of UI elements that are inactive or not currently usable. Disabled states are typically indicated by dimming, greying out, or reducing the opacity of buttons, fields, or other interactive components to signal to users that the action is not available.

Including clear disabled states in design is essential for accessibility and user experience. It prevents user frustration by providing visual feedback that certain actions cannot be performed at the moment. Designers should ensure that disabled elements are still visible and understandable, avoiding potential confusion.
